Our two Abyssinian kittens, Dexter and Zidane, had blood in their stool. They went through a battery of expensive parasite tests, blood work, were on antibiotics, additional fiber, and pro-biotics. Nothing helped to remove the blood in their stool. They were otherwise completely healthy, with normal activity, weight, and shiny fur. We were feeding them Innova kibble, then Evo kibble. No difference - they still had blood in their stool.
Their breeder was stumped. Our vet was stumped. We were worried for our little guys. Then our breeder suggested we try feeding them the BARF diet.
We first tried 100% meat & bone products but found that even after a transition period our cats wouldn't eat it. Then we tried Primal. They gobbled it up and loved it. Within one week of being on Primal Chicken & Salmon Formula, they no longer had blood in their stool! Hooray!
I suspected they had a grain allergy which was causing the blood in the stool. We put this to test (by accident) when we went away for the weekend and friends took care of the cats. They fed them Innova kibble. Guess what? When we returned home they had blood in their stool. The only ingredient that is strikingly different is the presence of grain.
In any case, the kitties are 100% Primal fed and happy and healthy as ever! Thanks!
