We lead a very active lifestyle…. we love running, hiking, and backpacking! So, it’s important for us to have the best food in order to maintain our health and activity level. We switched to the Primal raw food diet after our owner did her research. She found out that it’s better for Hobo’s osteoarthritic elbow, and for Squirt and Scout’s allergies. We think the raw food diet is great…. yummy AND very healthy (they use really healthy ingredients)! And, no worries when the “melamine in grain from China in dog food” scare happened!

Our Primal Success Story
Judging from your website, it looks like you get plenty of testimonials, but I also have a personal success story with Primal foods. My girlfriend Natalie has a 15-year old cat named Cream who began to lose weight and shy away from his food about three years ago. He was eventually diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but it took months to identify through a battery of exams, x-rays, and blood work. During this time, Cream was also prescribed numerous medications, each of which would only help for a short period of time. When the various antibiotics stopped working the vet would simply prescribe another one, and the cycle would begin again. Once he was diagnosed, we put him on a low residue diet (Eukanuba and Hills Prescription Diet) and he appeared to be back to his old self.

Then about six months ago, Cream started to experience many of the same problems as before and also started to limp on his hind legs. We took him to the vet again, but were given the same vague treatment: more antibiotics, an appetite stimulant, and a nausea suppressor. The combination actually seemed to make things worse, and over the next couple of weeks Cream continued to deteriorate. At a loss with our traditional vet, Natalie began researching on her own and found a holistic vet in Ocean Beach and a number of natural remedies including a detox pill (Thuja), hoping that it would flush the system of all the other medications.

Dr. Weingardt agreed with the Thuja and gave us a few additional dietary supplements, but also suggested that we try a raw food diet, which he said was still the simplest way to a healthy life. We took his advice and started Cream on Primal food that same day. It took around a week, but Cream steadily improved and is now healthier than ever, has a ton of energy, and his fur is softer than it's ever been.

We also have another cat (Wee) and a new puppy (Loki) and all our pets are now on Primal raw food diets. The animals love the food and we've actually been able to stop giving them flea medication completely. And despite trying to live a healthy lifestyle, I'm usually a skeptic regarding holistic cures and I was absolutely amazed by the elimination of fleas. I'm now such a believer that I've been telling everyone I know.

Just three months ago when she showed up on my doorstep, she was suffering from malnutrition, worms, fleas and Conjunctivitis in addition to having been separated from her nursing kittens. Today she is a curious, bright eyed ball of silky fur who awakens me at 6 A.M., dashes to the kitchen and gobbles up her Primal Pet Foods breakfast. to make it a special mealtime treat, I warm up chicken broth and pour it over Primal to take the chill out.

Hi there,
Just want to tell you again how much Oliver LOVES his Primal Lamb... he’s a dog with serious intestinal issues - allergies, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, difficulty keeping weight on his bones, etc. and he is THRIVING on Primal. We tried lots of different high quality dry food, to no avail, and for the last six months he had been on a bland, home cooked diet. His coat was looking dry and dull and itchy, and his energy was only so-so for a 2-year-old boxer/greyhound mix. Since transitioning to Primal, his puppy energy is back in full force, his coat is no longer itchy and is looking more beautiful by the minute (!) and it appears his digestive issues are under control. He’s even gaining weight - which he needed desperately.

Our dogs love Primal. It is very easy to serve and I like that the veggies are mixed in so fussy eaters can’t pick around them! It is also convenient to have most of the supplements I use included in the mix. The dogs thrive on raw meat and veggies. I’ve especially noticed an improvement in my Shepherds behavior and energy level. And a brightness and clearness in her eyes shortly after starting Primal. It is a wonderful food and I had no trouble getting it delivered.

On January 20th, 2004 Molly was diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. Her symptoms came on very suddenly. She was overweight from the junk food that I was buying in the grocery store. Molly weighed almost 59 pounds and her ideal weight is 44 pounds. Molly started drinking water excessively with very frequent urination, often wetting her bed at night. Her glucose level was at 504, which is extremely high for a dog. Molly was initially given 10.5 units of insulin to bring down her glucose level. After three days, Molly’s glucose level was remained high and the dose of insulin was increased to 20 units. Molly was then put on an antibiotic for a low-grade urinary infection in addition to the Insulin.

Now to explain how I happened on the Primal Pet Foods Formulas. My girlfriend told me of a dog nutritionist in Sequim, Washington. This is how I met two very sincere and wonderful people, Hope and Jim Williams at Best Friend Nutrition. Hope gave me some free samples of the Primal Canine Formulas and the company’s brochure. After approximately two months on the Primal Formulas, Molly has showed wonderful signs of improvement. Her coat is shiny and she has as much energy as a puppy. Molly has lost almost 10 pounds and her glucose level is at 120. I am hoping to lower Molly’s dose of insulin as she continues to eat the Primal Canine Formulas. I firmly believe in this product!!
